BECE 2016 ONGOING

The Basic Education Certificate Examination for the 2015/2016 academic badge is ongoing here is Ghana and is expected to end on Friday, 17 June 2016. The examination is administered by the famous West African Examination Council (WAEC) which oversees the WASSCE examinations among other examinations within the West African sub-region.


As many as 4600+ Junior High School pupils are partaking in the examination which will give them the certificate which the primary requirement for the entry into Senior High School. About 1500 schools from all districts, municipals and metropolis in Ghana are involved in the examination.

As at the first day of the examination, there have been few challenges across some centers. Some of these challenges include delay in the delivery examination materials to some centers.

As always expected, there are probabilities that various people involved in the examination might attempt scrupulous activities which is why WAEC is all ears and eyes to prevent the act and deal with offenders. Prior to the beginning of the examinations, some individuals have been apprehended and accused of leaking exam papers. The WAEC body however denied later, the leakage of any exam papers.

Other interesting news about the 2016 BECE include a wonderful phenomenon whereby an expectant-pupil who delivered few hours to the start of a paper but was still able to write the exams. This event occurred in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Another is the banning of 12 candidates from taking the exams by authorities in Yendi

The invigilators of the examination also threatened to boycott the exams due the low allowance given them for their works.
